“Failures are just setbacks that provide you with fresh opportunities”

We often have noticed that more preference is provided to stories of success, and when it comes to discussing rejections or failures, people tend to walk on thin ice.

Through our Phoenix Series, we would like to touch upon these delicate issues of failure. As the Phoenix symbolizes transformation, so does failure.

We bring you closer to this topic by sharing with you the hurdles and hiccups that M.S. Dhruvi N Brahmbhatt experienced. But wait, there’s more! We shall also discuss how she rose above these obstacles and see where she stands today.

To be successful one will go through their fair share of setbacks. Failure is always a learning opportunity and the same thought is shared by our interviewee ‘Dhruvi N Brahmbhatt.’

Key takeaways from the interview:

1. Could you tell our readers about yourself?

I am a UI/UX Designer and Developer at NYIT. Currently, I am doing an Internship in New York. I completed my Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from India and have more than 5 years of experience in designing industries. I would like to learn and grow more in the UX/UI field

2. Could you bring forward the challenges you faced?

Let’s start from my schooling days. I was a bright student till 10th grade and that’s why I chose the science stream. I didn’t have any goals. During that time I just wanted to learn new things. Meanwhile, I worked very hard in my 11th and 12th grades but couldn’t get a good score in board examinations. That was my first failure. Fortunately, I got admission in Computer Engineering at one of the good universities and I passed with distinctions. I thought I can do better with my future. I didn’t like coding much and didn’t want to become a tech person. However, I got a job as a web developer and I gave my 2 years as a web developer and graphic designer. Gradually, I got interested in designing things and was fascinated by new designing techniques. I wanted to do more in that field so I started applying for a designing position and got that, but still was not satisfied with my work. I wanted to learn in-depth so I quit my job and started applying to foreign universities. I got admission to SF but couldn’t get a visa. I tried a lot to get a visa and finally got it after trying for 3 years. I am learning a lot with my classmates, professors, and surrounding people. I got an on-campus job and got opportunities to host AR/VR events to more than 200 attendees in the French Institute museum in New York. Then, I started applying for an internship but got plenty of rejections. Through my AR thesis project, I got an Internship but am still not satisfied with my work. I want to learn more and I know I have the potential to do many things. I always wait for a good time, think positive towards anything, and work hard to get it. I believe in karma and hard work

3. How did you overcome these challenges?

Always, I learned from my failure and mistakes. I look for positive things in every situation. I think because of those failures I worked hard to get those things. Working hard is the only key to success

4. What did the experience teach you? What did you learn from it? How did it make you grow?

I learned many things from my experiences, such as, nothing is easy in this world. You have to work hard in the right manner towards it. Rejections and failures make me stronger in my career.

5. Would you like to change anything about the experience?

I just want to learn more from my experiences, which help others as well as me in my career.

6. Would you like to give any advice to our readers?

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. This makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.

Glancing through this interview, one can realize that Dhruvi is one of the fine examples with a  ‘Never Give Up’ kind of attitude.  Her performance and present self is dictated by her perseverance.

Nevertheless, she gives the message to our readers that to fight through this, one needs to work hard and keep learning.

“Rising above your setbacks is also a success, don’t forget”
