Selected students will receive $2,500 USD. The Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance.
The program is open to students who meet all the minimum qualifications. Past recipients of the following scholarships: Generation Google Scholarship, Generation Google Scholarship: for women in gaming, Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science in Ireland, Generation Google Scholarship: for supply chain and fulfilment, Google Lime Scholarship, Google Student Veterans of America Scholarship, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Gaming, Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship, or Venkat Panchapakesan Scholarships India are not eligible to reapply.
Eligibility for the Generation Google Scholarship (APAC)
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time second or third-year undergraduate student at an accredited university in Asia Pacific for the current academic year
- Intend to continue pursuing a full-time Bachelors program at an accredited university in Asia Pacific
- Be studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Demonstrate a strong academic record
- Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for improving the representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology

- Tell me about a time when you faced a complex problem without a clear path to a solution. Describe the steps you took to get to the solution in detail. What resources and solutions did you consider? What did you learn from this experience? Keep in mind that this can be a problem you have faced at school, work, extracurricular activities or home.
- From your personal experience, describe a barrier that prevents equitable access to the field of technology. What do you believe is the root cause? What actions have you taken to address this inequity and what actions do you plan to take? Please focus at least half of your response on the actions you have taken. Keep in mind that impact can happen in many ways and at different scales.

Google Lime Scholarship
Google’s education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) for the current school year
Eligibility for Google Lime Scholarship
- Have, or consider themselves to have, a visible or invisible disability
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelors program at an accredited university or college for the current academic year
- Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelors program at an accredited university in the United States or Canada for the current academic year
- Demonstrate a strong academic record
- Be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering or a degree in a closely related technical field
- Exemplify leadership and demonstrate passion for computer science and technology

Google Student Veterans of America Scholarship
As part of our commitment to military veterans, Google established the Google SVA Scholarship in partnership with Student Veterans of America. The scholarship provides assistance to student veterans who are pursuing university degrees in the field of computer science in the U.S. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD for the current school year.
Eligibility for Google Student Veterans of America Scholarship
- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university
- Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student at a university in the United States for the current academic year
- Maintain a strong academic performance
- Pursuing a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field
- A current student veteran (includes members of the National Guard or Reserve) as proven by a DD-214 and transcript, or a student on Active Duty as proven by submission of Active Duty orders and a Memorandum of Understanding from your commanding officer indicating that you are currently in good standing with your unit and transcript
- Has received an honorable discharge, or is in good standing with his/her branch of service

Eligibility for Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship

- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university for the 2022-2023 academic year
- Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a student in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program at an accredited university in Europe or Israel for the 2023-2024 academic year
- Be studying computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or a closely related technical field
- Demonstrate a strong academic record
- Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for computer science and technology
Essay Questions
- Why did you first become interested in computer science? How did this lead you to further study/pursue computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree/knowledge?
- Please be as specific as possible, making sure to answer both parts of the question. You should use examples that demonstrate your passion for computer science. For the last part of the second question, try and think about how you will use the knowledge gained during your studies, and how you foresee yourself developing these skills, following completion of your qualification.
- You can make reference to work and academic experiences, achievements and aims in relation to computer science.
- The recommended word count is between 400-600 words.
- We would like to ask you questions about a technical project you have been involved in or a piece of research that you undertook, where your contribution and involvement was key to its success.
- When answering the questions, please remember that the Computer Science professional reviewing your application may not share the same technical expertise or knowledge of your particular research field. Therefore, please make sure to explain all technical terms and processes accordingly.
- Any evidence to support or to help illustrate your essay (e.g. graphs, diagrams, algorithms, sections of code etc.) can be uploaded in the ‘supporting documents’ section, for all such items please include the name of your evidence in square brackets in the appropriate place in your answer, for example [Mygraph1].

- The following questions relate to an example of a time when you exhibited leadership.
- To answer these questions, you can draw from your academic, work or extracurricular experiences, responsibilities and/or achievements.

Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship
Venkat was a much-loved and highly respected engineer whose career took him to YouTube, Google, and Yahoo, among other notable companies. He tragically passed away too young, after a battle with cancer. During his short time, he deeply touched the hearts and minds of his friends, family and colleagues. He taught us to be selfless, humble, and ever-optimistic and to always find the best in people.
Are you an ever-optimistic person who believes we can make the world a more sustainable place? Are you passionate about the field of computer science and engineering? Are you already using computer science to develop solutions for some challenges, or opportunities, that you see around you? If yes, then apply for the Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship. Selected students will receive a financial award of $2,500 USD towards tuition and education-related expenses, and will be invited to a virtual retreat in October.
This is specifically for university students who:
- Aspire to be computer scientists and technology leaders
- Exemplify leadership skills and a demonstrated passion for computer science and technology
- Communicates their responses and message with thought and clarity
- Have a great financial need
Terms and Conditions
- Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the overall strength of their application materials compared to the entire applicant pool.
- The selection will be full and final, and the applicants will confirm they will not dispute the same at any point in time.
- The Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship award of $2,500 USD must be spent on tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for the student’s classes at their primary university.
- Scholarship recipients must be enrolled as full-time students for the current academic year. Enrollment will be verified after the winners are selected, and all scholarship payments will be made directly to the student to be used towards tuition and education-related expenses.
- Any employee of Google Inc. including its affiliates and subsidiaries is not eligible to apply for Google scholarships.
- Persons who are (1) residents of embargoed countries, (2) ordinarily resident in embargoed countries, or (3) otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs may not apply for this scholarship.
